Job Description

Telecommunications / Low Voltage Cable Technician (Entry Level)

Overview

This is a great opportunity for entry-level technicians looking to build hands-on experience on a large construction site. Technicians will work alongside experienced professionals performing structured cabling and security system installations in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Candidates with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Scope of Work

Work to be performed includes:

  • Cable pulling, termination, and splicing of Fiber, Cat5, and Cat6
  • Security system installations , including Access Control and Camera systems
  • Assisting with cable pulling and terminating keystone-style jacks on a large construction site

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a Cable Technician include:

  • Pulling, terminating, and testing Cat5/Cat6 and fiber optic cables
  • Installing cabling infrastructure such as racks and cabinets
  • Installing network racks and cabinets in server rooms
  • Reviewing all job documentation for assigned projects, including:
    • Floor plans and equipment locations
    • Reflected ceiling plans
    • Conduit call-outs
    • Wall elevations
    • Signal flow diagrams
    • Cable pull schedules

Physical Requirements

This role requires regular physical activity, including standing, climbing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, and stooping. Technicians must be comfortable:

  • Using hands to handle tools and materials
  • Typing on a keyboard
  • Reaching with hands and arms
  • Talking and hearing clearly

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Use of power tools is required. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds .

Additional Qualifications

  • Level 1 Pay: $20–$21/hr , depending on experience
  • Trade School Level 1 Pay: $20/hr
  • Looking for technicians with positive attitudes and strong communication skills

Level 1 technicians may acquire these tools within the first couple of weeks. Level 2 technicians are expected to have these tools on Day 1.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
