Your New Role

  • Work on-site in Portland, Oregon as a Construction Bookkeeper supporting day-to-day financial operations and project accounting

  • Manage daily bookkeeping and construction accounting activities

  • Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

  • Maintain accurate job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting

  • Support percentage-of-completion accounting and project financial tracking

  • Prepare customer invoices, progress billings, Schedule of Values (SOV), and retainage documentation

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances

  • Process vendor payments and maintain lien waiver documentation

  • Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close

  • Prepare financial reports using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel

  • Maintain fixed asset records and assist with cash flow tracking

  • Partner with project managers to support project budgets, cost controls, and profitability

  • Maintain accurate, organized financial documentation for construction projects

  • At least 3 years of construction bookkeeping or construction accounting experience

  • Experience in plumbing, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or a related construction industry preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience

  • Working knowledge of construction job costing, project accounting, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting

  • Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting methods

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with document management software such as DocuWare preferred

  • Familiarity with ADP, certified payroll, or similar payroll systems is a plus

  • Understanding of progress billing, Schedule of Values (SOV), and retainage

  • Experience managing lien waivers, preliminary notices, and collections

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
