As Bakery Production Manager , you will play a critical role in baking production, recipe execution and quality control.

This role will require a paid 4-week training program at the Magnolia Bakery HQ in Manhattan from July 20th- Aug 14th.

Bakery Production Manager

The Bakery Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily bakery production operations to ensure products consistently meet Magnolia Bakery's quality, food safety, and presentation standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring exceptional organization, attention to detail, and strong baking knowledge.

The ideal candidate is an experienced bakery professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys developing people, and leads by example. They are passionate about creating systems, maintaining consistency, and coaching teams to deliver excellence every day.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Production Leadership

  • Lead and oversee all daily bakery production operations.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently to meet daily business needs.
  • Maintain Magnolia Bakery's recipes, quality standards, and presentation expectations.
  • Monitor production levels to minimize waste while maximizing freshness and availability.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and adjust schedules as business demands change.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Hire, train, coach, and develop bakery production team members.
  • Create a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct regular coaching sessions.
  • Train employees on recipes, baking techniques, food safety, sanitation, and production procedures.
  • Build a culture of teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Ensure all products meet Magnolia Bakery's quality standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with health department regulations, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections throughout production.
  • Ensure proper product rotation, labeling, storage, and inventory management.

Operations

  • Manage daily production schedules and labor efficiency.
  • Maintain organized production areas and storage spaces.
  • Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate ordering needs.
  • Work closely with store leadership to ensure production aligns with sales forecasts.
  • Assist in implementing new products, seasonal offerings, and operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of bakery production or commercial baking experience.
  • Previous leadership experience managing bakery or kitchen teams.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and production processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and develop employees.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and warm production environments.
  • Availability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as business needs require.
