Description

About Rainbow Robotics

Rainbow Robotics (KOSDAQ: 277810) is a KAIST-founded robotics company building one of the most diverse robotics portfolios in the industry — from the RB Series collaborative robots and RBY dual-arm research platform, to RBM autonomous mobile robots and RBQ quadrupeds. We are committed to our partners' uptime and economics, and we are now scaling our US operations to bring world-class robotics to North American customers.

About the Role

As a Robot Field Application Engineer, you will be the technical face of Rainbow Robotics to our US customers. You'll install, commission, troubleshoot, and train end-users on our cobots, dual-arm robots, AMRs, and quadrupeds in the field. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with HQ engineering in Korea and a small, ambitious US team — your hands-on insights will directly shape how Rainbow Robotics shows up in the US market.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role designed for early-career engineers who want to grow into senior field or solutions engineering leadership as our US business scales.

Why Rainbow Robotics

  • Ground-floor opportunity to help build Rainbow Robotics' US field organization from the early days
  • Breadth of product exposure unmatched at most robotics companies — cobots, dual-arm research platforms, AMRs, and quadrupeds, all under one roof
  • Direct line to HQ R&D in Korea — your field insights are heard, and they shape the roadmap
  • Clear growth track into Senior Field Application Engineer or Robot Solutions Engineer roles as our US team scales
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and the chance to shape a culture from day one

Major Duties & Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Install, commission, and configure Rainbow Robotics products at customer sites — including RB Series cobots, RBY dual-arm robots, RBM AMRs, and RBQ quadrupeds
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across mechanical, electrical, and basic software issues
  • Deliver customer training on robot teaching, programming, and operation across all product lines
  • Own customer service and AS (after-sales) support for assigned accounts, including spare parts replacement and field repairs
  • Serve as the communication bridge between US customers and HQ engineering in Korea — escalating complex issues and channeling customer feedback into product improvements
  • Document field findings, build knowledge-base articles, and contribute to internal field playbooks
  • Support pre-sales activities including customer demos, application feasibility assessments, and proof-of-concept deployments — particularly for RBQ quadrupeds in inspection, surveillance, and research use cases
  • Travel up to ~60% across US customer sites

Minimum Skills & Abilities

  • Foundational knowledge of robot mechatronics: servo motors, harmonic/cycloidal reducers, multi-axis kinematics, articulated robot architecture
  • Comfort working in Linux environments
  • Familiarity with Python and/or C++ — ability to write simple scripts and basic UI / test tooling
  • Hands-on experience with robot teaching and programming on at least one cobot or industrial robot platform (Rainbow, UR, FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Doosan, etc.)
  • Hands-on mechanical assembly and electrical wiring experience
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills in English
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% domestically
  • Valid US driver's license and authorization to work in the US

Nice to Have (Senior-track Capabilities)

We are building both Junior and Senior tracks on this team. The following capabilities will accelerate your growth into a Senior Field Application Engineer role:

Deep specialization in one of two tracks

  • Mechanical track: In-depth expertise in robot mechanical design, precision assembly, gear/reducer diagnostics, and mechanical failure analysis
  • Electrical track: In-depth expertise in robot electrical systems, servo drives, motor control, field wiring, and electrical troubleshooting

Integration & advanced application skills

  • Integration of robots with external devices via Modbus TCP/RTU, EtherNet/IP, or PROFINET
  • Offline programming (OLP) experience, particularly RoboDK (other OLP tools also welcome: RobotStudio, RoboGuide, Delmia)
  • PLC programming and integration (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff)
  • Familiarity with ROS / ROS2, Docker, Git
  • Experience supporting cobots or industrial robots in live production environments
  • Prior experience as a Field Service / Application Engineer at a robotics, automation, or capital equipment company
  • Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English (a strong plus given HQ collaboration in Korea)

Minimum Education & Experience

(Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Hands-on experience with robot teaching and programming is strong plus
