This role requires strong autonomy, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to determine true root causes rather than short-term fixes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform insulation resistance testing, DC string isolation, current/voltage analysis, and inverter HMI diagnostics.
  • Make field-level decisions independently to restore production safely.
  • Support remote troubleshooting to reduce unnecessary dispatches.
  • Demonstrate an ownership mindset across all assigned sites.
  • Document root causes, corrective actions, and follow-ups clearly in work order systems.
  • Complete JSAs and all safety requirements thoroughly.
  • Ensure corrective actions are durable and technically sound.
  • Set the example for troubleshooting and professionalism.
  • Mentor junior technicians and apprentices in field settings.
  • Promote consistent, safe, and disciplined diagnostic practices.
  • Perform preventive maintenance across inverter systems, DC combiners, AC disconnects, and BOS components.
  • Identify trends and recurring inverter issues.
  • Manage spare parts usage and provide input on inventory requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of commercial, C&I, or utility-scale solar O&M experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting string or central inverter systems.
  • Proficiency with multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testing tools (meggers), and inverter HMIs.
  • Ability to independently diagnose DC field and inverter electrical issues.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience reducing repeat inverter faults through systematic root-cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with DAS/performance monitoring platforms.
  • Demonstrated mentorship of junior technicians.
